James Kim is a 2nd generation Korean-American storyteller and filmmaker who is based out of Los Angeles.  He moved there from the Midwest in 2006 to pursue filmmaking as a career.  Today, he focuses on directing original narrative work that blends heart, humor, and a mindfulness about cultural identity all while pondering our place in life.

He holds the belief that audiences will gravitate towards good stories regardless of how they're presented.  It's because of this mantra that James's work spans different mediums, formats, and genres; all for the sake of crafting a compelling narrative.

In 2022, James was awarded an opportunity from SYFY to direct & write a short animated story as part of their AAPI Heritage Month proceedings.  The collaboration resulted in a short film called Language Barrier and features hand-drawn animation from two talented artists, Santi Biondolillo and Elijah Espada.  It explored themes of language, culture, and generational connection.​​

James's experience with writing, directing, producing, and editing helps him communicate his vision with collaborators and clients.  But most importantly, it helps him better connect with his audience and offer a meaningful experience while taking them along on a journey.
